Glenwood Springs Recycle Center

The Recycle Center in Glenwood Springs is located in the center of town at 1015 School Street.  The Center can be reached by traveling westward (toward the Roaring Fork River) on 11th Street from Grand Avenue (turn at the 7-11).

The Recycle Center is open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays (except holidays).  The hours are: Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. and Saturday from 10:00a.m. to 4:00p.m.  The containers are conveniently located on the property with ramps for easy access and a large parking area for pulling up next to the site if you have heavy containers full of recyclables.  There is an attendant on site to answer any questions you might have about recycling.  There is a small office area located in the far building.

Please do not leave recyclables at the front gate when the Center is CLOSED.

RESIDENTIAL RECYCLING GUIDELINES

COMMINGLES: Please be aware that our acceptance guidelines are subject to change depending on what the end markets are accepting.  We do not make the rules as to what is or is not acceptable, we just follow what we are told by the people at the end point.

Glass beverage containers-ALL colors. PLASTIC containers - #1 thru #7 rinsed & empty; Cans - steel, tin and aluminum.

NO NEEDLES OR OTHER SHARPS! No broken glass, plastic bags, lids of any kind, plate glass, aerosol cans or chemical bottles/oil containers; metal other than cans; plastic other than containers. Please rinse containers and remove all lids. No Cardboard or paper materials.

NEWSPAPERS , MAGAZINES

Newspapers including the inserts, magazines and catalogs, slick (shiny) junk mail.

Office paper, bundled or tied newspapers or plastic bags or plastic materials of any kind. Phonebooks, cardboard, or books.

 

OFFICE PAPER

Construction paper, blueprint, computer paper, shredded paper (staples are okay) and junk mail that is not slick (shiny) any office paper, including envelopes w/ windows.

 

Cardboard, plastic binders, plastic notebooks, plastic bags or plastic mailing envelopes, newspapers, magazines and commingles.

CARDBOARD: (BOXES must be broken down).

Corrugated boxes broken down flat (with or without shiny finish) and brown paper bags.

 

Waxed or plastic coated cardboard, food boxes made to go into the refrigerator or freezer (such as soda or beer boxes), plastic lined cardboard, plastic bags, bubble wrap, or boxes not broken down.

PHONEBOOKS

Phonebooks, paper/hardcover books, large catalogues, beer & soda boxes, freezer/refrigeration food boxes, all paperboard & waxed cardboard, all paper materials suited for the composting process, paper egg cartons, toilet paper & paper towel rolls.

 

 All plastic & glass materials not suited for the composting process.

 

*WE DO NOT ACCEPT PLASTIC BAGS AT THIS FACILITY.  THANK YOU FOR NOT LEAVING THEM IN ANY OF OUR SEVEN CONTAINERS OR ON THE RECYCLING CENTER GROUNDS.    PLEASE REUSE OR DISPOSE OF THEM PROPERLY.

No toxic or hazardous wastes accepted.  Used motor oil can be taken to any local lube shop or to Checker Auto Parts during regular business hours.

Please check with the attendant if you have questions concerning hard to recycle items such as electronics, batteries, etc. You may reach the Center by calling 945-2931 during business hours or leave a message and your call will be returned as soon as possible.  You may call the South Canyon Landfill @ 945-5375 on the Center's off days .
