The City of Glenwood Springs is currently constructing a
new 1.95 million gallon waste water treatment facility in west Glenwood Springs.
It is an activated sludge process (oxidation ditches) plant with aerobic
digesters.
It is designed to accommodate a potential future expansion to treat 3.9 million
gallons of sewage per day. This plant will replace the current waste water
treatment plant at the confluence of the Roaring Fork and Colorado rivers.
As part of this project, a new lift station will be built in part of the old MOC
parking lot on seventh street, and dual 16" force mains are now installed from
the new lift station site to the new plant site. The contract price for
construction of the plant and lift station is $ 22,285,000. The plant is
scheduled to be operational in the fall of 2012.|
