Veltus Park Shoreline Restoration Project

Veltus Park Sign

The Glenwood Springs Parks and Recreation Department will begin work on shoreline restoration at Veltus Park on August 16, 2018.

This project involves the removal of concrete walkways, railings, the flagstone step area, and concrete debris along the Roaring Fork riverfront.

Restoration work will prevent future erosion on the Veltus Park shoreline from the Roaring Fork River and provide long-term benefits to river access and recreation at the park. Construction will include new railings, steps for river access, flagstone steps, and various plantings and re-vegetation.

Most of the park will remain open during construction, however, the lower and upper parking lots and river access will be closed for the duration of the project. Access to Veltus Park will be available through the 8th Street parking lot on the north side of the park. This project is estimated to last for six weeks.

Additionally, there may be 20 minute delays on Midland Avenue during the night of August 16 into the very early morning of August 17 for the unloading of construction equipment.
