Support the Event

June 14, 2017

To Whom It May Concern:

The City of Glenwood Springs River Commission (River Commission) serves the community through the investigation, study, and advising of City Council on any and all matters concerning the use, enjoyment, preservation and conservation of the rivers and streams in the City and its environs adjacent thereto. With two major rivers and numerous creeks running through our community, we are proud to play a part in the recognition and preservation of these great natural resources.

The River Commission’s top community involvement event is our annual river clean-up which this year is titled RiverFEST (flyer attached). The event is an annual tradition of stewardship and celebration of the rivers in our community since the year 2000. On August 5th at 9:00 AM volunteer teams will gather to either float or walk the banks of the Roaring Fork and Colorado Rivers, removing accumulated debris and thus beautifying the waterways of our City. Afterwards, all volunteers will meet at Two River Park at around 12:00 PM for a river celebration including free lunch, live music, and a boat race.

Expenses for the event are covered by our local sponsors and the City of Glenwood Springs. Therefore, we need your help in addressing costs, particularly those which help provide a great experience for our volunteers and allow us to more effectively advertise the event. We are requesting you sponsor the event with a $100 or more donation. In exchange for your support, your business logo will be displayed on all advertisements and posters and our Facebook event page. You will also have the option to display your banner or set up a booth or table during the RiverFEST celebration.

We are utilizing a team format for the event and are requesting your help with the solicitation and coordination of both financial support and volunteers from your organization. Please designate a team leader (as well as an alternate) to seek out volunteers and coordinate the details of the event with the River Commission moving forward. One week prior to RiverFEST, the River Commission will hold a meeting to provide team leaders with last minute details and answer questions. On the day of the event, the team leader will organize volunteers and hand out supplies at the predetermined clean-up location. Team leaders can register their team for the clean-up at

Any financial donations should be made out to the “City of Glenwood Springs” with “RiverFEST Donation” in the memo line. A receipt from the City will be made out to you upon processing the donation.

Thank you for your consideration of support. We certainly hope you will motivate your employees to join us on August 5th. Please feel free to contact us at 970.384.6427 or with any questions or visit for more event details.

Best Regards,

City of Glenwood Springs River Commission
